Celebrating The Season's Finest

While many of us mourn the passing of Summer, it’s an exciting time for the chefs at HOME.

The new season brings an abundance of local produce - plus some culinary delights from further afield.

So, how do we update our menus to reflect the tastes and flavours of Autumn?

Some of it is down to celebrating the harvest and the menu incorporates favourite ingredients from the “land”, such as the earthy flavours of beetroot, sweet and vibrant Heirloom tomatoes and local wild mushrooms.

Celeriac, courgettes, cauliflower, samphire and pomegranates are also” stars” on our vegetarian menu, allowing us to combine taste, texture and variety.

Taste is always paramount - it's never just style and no substance! - and we offer warming dishes that offer appeal as the weather cools down.

Slow cooking brings out the flavours and textures of seasonal favourites including lamb; ox cheek and chorizo.

Fish is always a hit on the HOME menus and we’ve got some sensational delights to herald Autumn’s arrival.

A particular hit with diners is our Scallop dish. We pan-sear these little delights and serve them with smoked bacon, black pudding bonbons and carrot puree.

HOME director Tom Fligg said, “We love to showcase local ingredients at HOME to ensure that our menus are modern, seasonal and simply sensational.

“Our small plates also allow us to introduce flavours from further afield - including Tandoori Fish, Goats’ Cheese and Beetroot Arancini, Chicken Katsu and Oriental Belly Pork. It’s a real fusion of tastes and cuisines.”

Chef and co-director Gavin Marsden added: “We have a really loyal customer base at HOME and we’ve had some really great feedback about the new menu already.

“We’re also welcoming new customers every week, which is also really good to see, after the limitations created during successive lockdowns.

“One of the things I love about this place is the opportunity to experiment. We really really do create every dish with love and care.”

Finally, no menu would be complete without sweet “treats” and a sensational cheeseboard.

EATING OUT TO HELP OUT...

It’s now nearly four weeks since we welcomed you to our new-look HOME!

When we re-opened on July 4th after Lockdown,  we were excited, empowered, raring to go...... and at times downright scared!

We’re delighted to say that you supported our belief that there’s “no place like HOME”.

As we emerged from Lockdown, and adjusted to the “new normal”, you have come out in droves and supported our new-look restaurant.  Last week was our busiest to date!

The feedback has been simply phenomenal:

Writing on our FB page, Glenn Davies said: “First proper night out since Lockdown eased, great food & atmosphere. Staff made you feel welcome. Will definitely go back again.”

Jill Crampton added, “Always amazing food  and excellent service.”

To help say “thank you” and give something back, we have signed up to the Government’s Eat Out to Help Out Scheme.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout August, we will offering half-price food and non-alcoholic drinks from our menus at lunchtime and in the evening, representing a maximum saving of up to £10 per person.

We can’t wait to welcome you HOME again. Booking is strongly advised - please secure your tables and view our mouth-watering menus at Daily Menu - Home on Lindley

We are also celebrating YORKSHIRE DAY on Saturday by placing the spotlight on all our locally-sourced food and ingredients, something we do all year round!

Enjoy your weekend everybody - and come HOME soon!

We're Delighted To Welcome You HOME

At HOME, we are raring to go again and are thrilled to be welcoming our customers - old and new - after a 15-week closure.

During the lockdown, we have used the time to expand into the neighbouring premises, creating our fabulous new Garden Lounge.  This features a living wall, beautiful plants and a relaxing vibe - allowing you to chill out and enjoy fine dining in relaxed surroundings.

You can also visit for drinks - there is no need to eat.

Your safety is also our top priority in these challenging times.  Please take the time to read our new guidelines, to ensure our reopening runs as smoothly as possible

WHAT’S NEW?

Opening Times

The only way to guarantee a table is to book.

The largest table size seats up to four people and that’s from a maximum of two households.

We are adhering to the 2-metre social distancing rule to ensure your safety.

All diners are reminded to please finish dining within time limits.

Opening Times

TUESDAY TO FRIDAY - 12 noon to 2pm and 5pm to 9pm

SATURDAY - 12 noon to 9pm.

SUNDAY - 12 noon to 6pm.

MONDAY - Closed.

Meet your Host

You will be welcomed at the door by a staff member acting as your Host, who will confirm your booking and guide you to your table.

You will also be asked to apply hand sanitiser to your hands at this point.

Your host will take your order for food and drinks at your table.  They will deliver food and drink to the table and take payment there too.

Please try to enter the restaurant with the rest of your group, so we can guide you to your seats quickly and efficiently.

Track & Trace

Government guidelines require that we keep details of our customers for 21 days to help them implement Track and Trace if anybody falls ill.

The minimum information we will need is the name and telephone number of the lead person (the person who books the table)

If you have a confirmed case of COVID 19 within 2 weeks of visiting the restaurant please inform us straight away.

Queuing

Due to the fact we are operating a booking system there should be no reason to queue. However, at busy times, you may need to queue.  Please observe social distancing rules and queue down the side of the street, nearest the building, to allow others to pass safely and gain access to their cars.

Hygiene

We will do all we can to ensure your safety and will take the following steps for your protection:

  • Providing a safe environment for you to eat & drink
  • Disinfecting tables, equipment, menus after every use
  • Regularly disinfecting washroom facilities
  • Ensuring compliance with social distancing rules
  • Ensuring staff wash their hands frequently

In return we ask our customers to please:

  • NOT visit the restaurant, if you’re experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms or have been exposed to anyone who is ill
  • To use hand sanitiser when requested
  • Abide by social distancing rules
  • Be respectful of others during your visit
  • Leave the washrooms as you would expect to find them

HOW WILL IT WORK?

Capacity Restrictions

We will be spacing all our tables and seats to comply with social distancing rules.

If seats are occupied, there will be a no-standing policy.

Once at capacity, it will be one group in and one group out.

We will continue to welcome to children but please ensure they are seated throughout your meal.

Avoid congregating

Once you are seated, please only get up where necessary, such as visiting our washrooms.

Please do not block access and avoid queuing where possible.   If our staff ask to return to your seat, please work with us.

Please visit our washrooms singly - unless you are accompanying a small child - and avoid lengthy conversations with other diners.

Finally, please bear with us.  This is new to all of us and we will do all we can to ensure you have a pleasurable and enjoyable visit.

Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

We will review the situation regularly to ensure we are fully compliant with latest Government guidance.

Meet The Team

We pride ourselves on first-class teamwork at HOME - and our customers are central to everything we do. HOME is jointly owned and run by two committed and highly-creative partners -  Gavin Marsden and Tom Fligg.

Gavin (left) and Tom (right)

GAVIN is a highly talented and experienced chef who has worked in the industry for 18 years. He trained as an apprentice chef at a local two-rosette country pub/restaurant/hotel and at the age of 18 ran a pub - the youngest licensee in Yorkshire! After meeting Tom, the couple moved to Huddersfield to run a pub/restaurant together, before moving to Lindley to open HOME. He has extensive experience in all areas of the hospitality industry - including pubs, restaurants, hotels, outside catering and events.

TOM works as “front of house” manager at HOME and also has 18 years’ industry experience. He started working in events at a Yorkshire premiere wedding venue/hotel/spa, gaining invaluable experience. He worked his way up to operations manager before meeting and moving in with Gav and deciding to work together.

The couple moved to Huddersfield  to open HOME in Lindley. The rest, as they say, is history!

Looking ahead, they plan to build the brand, open another restaurant and launch an outside catering/events service. Watch this space!

Tom and Gavin are supported by the following team members:

Scott McGee

Chef and pakora prince!  Currently training at Leeds City College in butchery and bakery, he started his catering career as a kitchen porter and has worked his way up. He says he lives, breathes and dies for food!

Favourite HOME dish: Buffalo cauliflower – smoky, crisp with a kick

Louis Hoff

Commis chef.  Huddersfield born and bred, he has a passion for food and describes himself as the professional tortoise and not the hare! (Just hair dreadlocks).

Favourite HOME dish: Key Lime Pie, my own special recipe.

We're Reopening!

Exciting times ahead as we refurbish in readiness for reopening! We can't wait to welcome you Home.
